Jose Mari Chan, lahir di Iloilo City pada 11 Maret 1945. Ia penyanyi Filipina-Cina, penulis lagu dan pengusaha di industri gula. Dari 1970 sampai 1975, ia menulis lebih dari 20 tema lagu untuk film, beberapa di antaranya masuk nominasi Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences Award. Pada tahun 1973 ia mewakili Filipina dalam World Populer Song Festival di Tokyo dengan lagunya “Can We Just Stop and Talk A While”. Pada 1975, ia pindah ke Amerika Serikat untuk bisnis gula dan menetap di sana selama 11 tahun. Kembali pada tahun 1986, Universal Records merilis sebuah kompilasi hits-nya dengan komposisi baru “Tell Me Your Name”. Pada tahun 1989, album nya “Constant Change” dinobatkan sebagai Album of the Year oleh Awit Awards, setara dengan Amerika Grammy Awards dan mencapai Diamond Record dalam hal penjualan.  Album Chan dan single Beautiful Girl juga populer di negara-negara Asia lainnya seperti Malaysia, Singapura dan Indonesia. Pada tahun 1990, ia  mendapat triple platinum di tahun yang sama, kemudian pertama kalinya menjadi pemegang Double Diamond Record Award.  Pada tahun 2005 dia ditugaskan untuk menulis We’re All Just One, lagu tema untuk SEA Games 2005.
