Tony Hawk, para quem não se lembra, é aquele jogo que você precisa fazer pontos fazendo manobras com o skate e desvendando as fases nossa que jogo surpeendente!.

Sua trilha sonora vai do Punk ao Hip Hop, com clássicos e músicas excelentes mas que poucas pessoas conhecem, e se conhecem é devido ao jogo. Como a trilha é muito extensa, principalmente nos outros Tony Hawks, vou citar apensa as músicas que me chamam mais atenção.

A primeira música que me chamou atenção no jogo, fora Blitzkrieg Bop dos Ramones e Ace Of  Spades do Motorhead, foi Fight Like a Brave dos Red Hot Chili Peppers, pois até então não conehcia esse tipo de som deles, mas voltado pro Funk Metal:

Week 4: Elements of the Computer

In Metaforas, there was interesting terms and facts to learn about. The subsections about numbers, digital vs. analog, decimal and binary, algorithms, punched cards and history of the computer each held a lot of information. In numbers, we learned that they are today’s digitization’s originator. Also, counting and numbering started as just that but then went on to being part of addition, subtraction, multiplication and more. Digital and Analog were defined in this section and then talked more about it their own section. Digital systems are numbers said to be whole or integers and the encoding can be copied infinitely. Analog systems have no end, breaks or steps, they are continuous. Both digital and analog methods must create a remembrance of events. For example, analog are privately held or in libraries and digital is accessible to everyone. In decimal and binary, it states that our base 10 decimal counting system is not universal, therefore, a binary system of numbers is used because it’s easier to store in electronic circuits. In algorithms, it is learned that it is “a set of rules for finding the solution to a problem”. A type of algorithm is a computer program. After translated to a code the computer will understand the language. In punched cards, we learn that it is a digital image tracing back to 1801. In this section it states, “To understand modern digital files, it must be accepted that images and sounds do not consist of physical elements of what they represent”. What the images and sounds are, are virtual representations. In history of the computer section, it is broken down into 9 points. Point one starts with the earliest calculating device and point nine ends with a published paper “A Mathematical Theory of Computation” which was the birth of modern info theory. Each point talks about an invention dealing with mechanical devices from calculators to computers. It states the years and the inventor of each. The reading was very informative and didn’t leave much room for criticism because it was just about inventions and numbers.

In the video lecture download, it explains the difference between the internet and the web. Internet is a massive network of networks and has protocols. Where as, the web is way of accessing info and was built on top of the internet. Vanevar Bush described Memex in 1945. It was an imagined idea of what the internet and web could be like. The speaker goes on to tell about others and their involvement on getting the internet/web to the point it is at today. ARPANET started computers and it started out as only a few on the West Coast and then spread to the East COast and then all over the world, very rapidly. The founders of the internet were influenced by nodes in the brain and circuits. We get a sense from this from the last readings from Metaforas about circuits and the world brain.

In the Youtube video, “1981 Primitive Internet Report on KRON”, it was surprising to see technology be far below where we are today. At the time, KRON was a brand new system that was being tried out. You had to make a call to the newspaper to connect, then you could view the paper over your home computer. It was stated that reading the paper over the computer took 2 hours and it was a $5 charge per hour. ($10 to read on the computer, when you could buy a paper on the street for $0.20). One man in the video talks about how 500+ people responded to the ad and seemed interested in reading the paper over the computer, but he didn’t think they would make money off of it or that it would become that popular.

IMDb link transformer aims to ease the movies information search process, for both writer and reader. All movies names which are tagged between < !–imdb–>nameMovie< !–/imdb–> are automatically turned into an url. This url can open a new window (a popup) containing many useful data related to the movie itself. IMDb link transformer transforms all the words you tagged into links to an informative windows. It means one can view the filmmaker, the casting or the goofs that IMDb website includes with one click; it can show either the director or the movie related data (biography, filmography, miscellaneous related to the director; casting, goofs, AKA titles, crew and many others related to the movie).
Installation:
required

Unzip and put the “imdb-link-transformer” folder into your plugin folder (usually wp-content/plugins/)
Activate the plugin (using the settings tab from admin board)
Configure the plugin (settings admin board). Values should be automatically completed, but check them anyway.
Create the cache directories (cache and photo directories). The plugin is preconfigured to work with “/wp-content/cache/imdb” and “/wp-content/cache/imdb/images”. Deactivate the cache (advanced – cache management section) otherwise, if you dont want to use the cache. Either you use or you dont, the plugin will work – but be aware that without cache, process will take a long time, each time…
Give read & write permissions to these two cache directories (see 4).

basic options

There is three ways to use IMDb link transformer: popup link creator, widget and inside a post. Each option can be combined with any other, as blogger wants; there is no limitation, feel you free to use all three at once!
When writing your post, add either < !–imdb–>movies name< !–/imdb–> tags to your movies name (if you disabled visual editor, and that you have HTML interface) or click on imdb link transformers button after selecting the movies name. As a result of this, a link which will open a popup will be created. The popup contains many data and is extensively browsable.
Widget can be activated, and used in a way where informations will be displayed inside it. Once widget is activated, look closely to select what you want to display on your sidebar: options are available on imdb admin settings tab. Also add “imdb-movie-widget” or “imdb-movie-widget-bymid” to your messages custom field; the value you will add will be the movie that will be displayed inside the widget. Check faqs.
(new) The plugin can now show IMDb data inside a post. When writing your post, put the movie name inside tags [imdblt][/imdblt] (which gives ie [imdblt]Fight club[/imdblt]). No third party plugin needed anymore.
You may also edit the “/* —- imdbincluded */” part from imdb.css to customize layout according your taste.

Fine tuning:

The files inc/imdb-movie.inc.php, popup.php, imdbmovie.php and imdbperson.php could be modified to match your theme; check also /css/imdb.css if you want to customize default theme.
A (front) page can be created to include all you movies related messages. Have a look there : personal critics page.
If your language is not included… translate .po file (inside /lang directory) to yours! And send it to me, of course, thus many people would enjoy IMDb in a new language.

Advanced

If you are not interested in having links opening popup windows but look only for informations displayed (both in widget and posts), look for “widget options / Remove popup links?” and switch the option to “yes”. There will be no more links opening a popup (both in widget and posts).

How to update?

Remove the old IMDb link transformer and install the new one. Or use the automated update from WordPress.
If needed, go to IMDb link transformer settings, and click on “reset”.

Cambios en la Campus Party México

Durante la noche de ayer se anunciaron algunos cambios importantes sobre la organización y realización de la Campus Party México, especialmente con relación a la información conocida previamente por parte de sus organizadores.

Paint.NET is a graphic editor designed for Microsoft Windows XP, Server 2003 and Vista. The application is quite intuitive and very user friendly thus providing a quickly learnable environment that a user can immediately use without help.

You can open multiple image files since Paint.NET uses a tabbed document interface. The tabs show live thumbnails so you can see which picture belongs to the tabs at a glance.

Do not expect Paint.NET to be a good replacement for Adobe Photoshop, but do not underestimate it either. Paint.NET comes with many special effects such blurring, red-eye removal, noise, sharpening, distortion, embossing and many more. Basic tools are also included such as rotating and zooming and tools to adjust the brightness, hue, curves, contrast, saturation and levels of your image. A nice application for everyday photo editing.

Tải file “tốc hành” từ Rapidshare

Vừa rồi tôi cố tải một file từ Rapidshare nhưng thất bại, ngồi đợi muốn khùng luôn nhưng đến khi bấm nút Download để tải thì nó lại báo là tôi đang tải cái file đó, hãy đợi cho đến khi tải xong (!?). Tôi đã thử lại nhiều lần nhưng kết quả vẫn vậy, tôi cũng đã biết lý do vì sao nó lại thông báo như vậy nhưng rất tiếc là không còn cơ hội sửa nữa vì không thể thay đổi địa chỉ IP.
Sau một hồi lục tung Google, tôi đã tìm được 2 địa chỉ đáng tin cậy giúp bạn tải file tại Rapidshare một cách dễ dàng với tốc độ cao và bạn có thể sử dụng IDM để tải.

Hai dịch vụ mà tôi sắp giới thiệu sau đây hoạt động theo nguyên tắc : sử dụng tài khoản Premium để tải..dùm file của bạn về server của nó, sau đó sẽ cung cấp đường link từ server của nó cho bạn tải về. Thuật ngữ của “giang hồ” gọi là “leech file”. Tốc độ nhanh hay chậm phụ thuộc vào server của của mỗi dịch vụ nhưng có thể chắc chắn rằng nó nhanh hơn cách tải miễn phí từ RapidShare rất nhiều. Vừa rồi tôi tải một bộ phim nhưng có một file bị hư, tôi sử dụng đường dẫn của rapidshare để tải file thay thế và kết quả, tuyệt vời ! 100Mb tải cái rẹt là xong, tốc độ có khi lên đến hơn 200Kbp/s !

When it comes to head-flipping lyricists with a large dose of social consciousness of the very early 1990s era (born out of the school of artists like Big Daddy Kane just a couple of short years earlier), one name is all too often overlooked:  Ed O.G.

Straight outta Roxbury, Boston, Ed O.G. and his sizeable fam Da Bulldogs were picked up by PWL Records America, the stateside offshoot of British pop music extraordinaire Pete Waterman, on which they released a trio of singles, as well as their debut album Life Of A Kid In The Ghetto.

Though almost universally acclaimed, the album failed to have much commercial impact on the national scene, and was instead rather confined to the Boston local scene in particular, with some steady love throughout the wider Northest area, which to this day still holds a sizeable proportion of Ed O.G & Da Bulldog’s fanbase to this day.

Spawning three well-received singles (”Be A Father To Your Child”, “I Got To Have It” and “Bug-A-Boo”), the album is pretty solid – in fact, near perfect – from end to end.  Heavily interspersed with black-power propaganda, yet still remaining a healthy balance of tolerance and acceptance, as well as a number of more upbeat, goofy, fun tracks, Life Of A Kid In The Ghetto is self-explanatory in its title.

Though I appreciate the album in its entirety, there are a few tracks in particular that stand out for me, due to the increased emphasis on socially-relevant issues of the intense political arena that was America around the turn of the decade into the 1990s (check “Dedicated To The Right Wingers”, “Be A Father To Your Child” and “Life Of A Kid In The Ghetto”).

Ed O.G. went on to forge a moderately successful rap career (both with and without the assistance of Da Bulldogs), and remains on his game to this day, including the completion of a new album with fellow rap heavyweight Masta Ace.

Life Of A Kid In The Ghetto, however, remains out-of-print, so enjoy:

oldukça eğlenceli, bazı sahneler var kı, aklıma gelince kendimi hala saf saf sırıtır halde buluyırum

afiş size nasıl bir film olduğunu anlatıyor aslında.. romantik öğeler barındıran, eğlenceli bir macera filmi..

Kumar oynamayı seven genç bir dalgıç ve yüzme öğretmeni olan Cheon Soo, hile yaparken yanılır ve tüm parasını kaybetmesinin üstüne yüklü bir borca da girer..

Borcunu ödemeye kararlıdır, fakat hayatı boyunca çalışsa bile ödemesi mümkün değildir.. daha borcunu nasıl ödeyeceğini bile düşünemeden, alacaklıkları gırtlağını sıkmak için harekete geçmişlerdir bile..

alacaklıların elinde kıvrandığı sırada bir uyuşturucu kaçakçısı olan Kang, Cheon Soo’yu kurtarır. VINYL RIP #8: Casual - <i>Fear Itself</i> (1994)

Taking it back to that “alternative” Bay Area sound today, back some decade and a half to the height of Hieroglyphics extraordinaire Casual’s career.  Having already made some noise on the underground, independent and local scene, as well as having contributed to 1993’s critically-acclaimed Souls of Mischief LP ‘93 Til’ Infinity, Casual’s debut album Fear Itself solidified the reputations of the Hiero/Souls of Mischief camp as key players in the west coast hip-hop game for at least the first half of the 1990s.

Fear Itself is very much a family affair.  Though the centrepiece is obviously reserved for Casual, the album is delightfully peppered with a dozen or so inputs from almost the entire Hiero/Souls of Mischief fam.  In fact, only Opio and former Hiero member Mike G are absent from Fear Itself.

Production is handled mostly by Domino, with more than a helping hand from Del, Toure, and Casual himself, and the only non-Hiero guest appearance comes in the form of the formidable Saafir.

Fear Itself spawned three singles (”Tha’s How It Is”, “I Didn’t Mean To” and “Me-O-Mi-O”), and was a critical success as well as a moderate major-label hit.  Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your outlook), Fear Itself remains Casual’s only major-label solo outing to date, despite releasing several follow-up LPs, backed by the Hiero Imporium’s own record label, none of which have quite retained the quality evident on Fear Itself.  Nowadays, Casual’s career revolves around pretty formidable – yet nevertheless scarce – guest appearances on other artists’ joints.

As is ever the case, Casual’s only true classic solo album remains out-of-print, with good condition CDs being relatively cheap and easy to find, and vinyl being that little bit more elusive in the market.

Indiecater Volume 4

I am really beginning to wonder if mp3hugger also exists in an alternate universe- how does he find the time for his own posts and all the great work he is doing for Indiecater?!  I will have to pry the secret from him soon since I seem so short on time these days.

I will always find the time for an Indiecater compilation though- up to volume 4 now and the good tunes keep on coming in!  Nineteen tracks on this one which is a good indication of the number of great groups out there at the moment- no matter how you find the music these days there are always a plethora of groups to keep your ears occupied.

No better way to kick it off than with a track from Sofia Talvik- one of my favourites over the past few months and I was only recently able to get her cd’s as she and her husband run the shop but were away touring in the US.  My James Dean is a very catchy number off of her latest album Jonestown and you can have a listen or download below.

Shout Out Out Out Out – Guilt Trips Sink Ships Good god- you might get lost in the name just as you will in the excellent percussion- funk-ing hell yeah!  Definitely a bit of funk but also some dark synth and then the voice kicks in and its full steam ahead for a total of 8 mins of joyous fun.

As always with Indiecater’s compilations there are quite a few groups I am going to have to follow up on- Marching Band, Warpaint and Shout Out Out Out Out top of the list!

      Ngoại ngữ, cụ thể là tiếng Anh, ngày càng trở nên rất thông dụng. Nếu bạn vẫn gặp khó khăn và trở ngại khi sử dụng ngôn ngữ này, bài viết sau đây có thể sẽ hữu ích cho bạn. Việc sử dụng và soạn thảo văn bản bằng ngoại ngữ (cụ thể là tiếng Anh) thật sự rất khó và dễ mắc lỗi, ngảy cả với những người có trình độ. Thứ tự các từ sắp xếp chưa đúng, sai chính tả hay các câu văn không đúng ngữ pháp… là các lỗi thường gặp mà đôi khi bạn không hề phát hiện ra.

Một số mẹo nhỏ sau đây, dựa trên những kinh nghiệm thực tế sẽ giúp bạn cải thiện đáng kể khả năng đánh văn bản bằng tiếng Anh của mình.

Sửa lỗi sai chính tả:

   TinySpell là tiện ích giúp bạn phát hiện ra lỗi chính tả trong quá trình soạn thảo văn bản. TinySpell không chỉ hoạt động trên các chương trình soạn thảo văn bản thông thường như Word hay Notepad… mà TinySpell có thể kiểm tra lỗi khi bạn gõ văn bản ở bất cứ đâu, như ở trong trình duyệt hay ở các chương trình khác.

Ngoài ra, chương trình còn cung cấp các gợi ý để bạn có thể sửa lại lỗi chính tả trong trường hợp viết sai vì lý do quên từ.

Bạn có chắc bạn đang sử dụng từ đúng ngữ cảnh ?

Dùng từ sai ngữ cảnh là một trong những lỗi thường gặp nhất khi sử dụng tiếng Anh. Để hạn chế lỗi này, bạn nên nhờ đến sự trợ giúp của WordWeb.

   WordWeb là tiện ích cho phép tìm kiếm các từ đồng nghĩa hoặc biết rõ hơn về nghĩa của từ mà bạn đang sử dụng. Ví dụ, nếu bạn đang băn khoăn giữa việc dùng từ “than” hay “then”, bạn có thể kiểm tra nghĩa của hai từ này chỉ bằng một cú nhấn chuột mà không cần phải thoát khỏi chương trình soạn thảo.

Tìm đúng từ trong ngữ cảnh đưa ra và đảm bảo cấu trúc đang sử dụng là chính xác bằng Google:

Khi không chắc chắn một cụm từ nào đó đã chính xác hay chưa, hoặc trong trường hợp không nhớ cấu trúc của câu mà bạn muốn dùng, hãy sử dụng Google. 

Bạn chỉ việc tiến hành tìm kiếm cụm từ hay cấu trúc cần kiểm tra bằng Google để tìm xem những người khác sử dụng cấu trúc đó như thế nào. Nếu câu hoặc cụm từ bạn đang tìm được hiển thị với tần số cao trong kết quả của Google, thì chắc chắn câu bạn viết là chính xác.

Lưu ý: nên đặt cụm từ hoặc câu vào giữa 2 dấu ngoặc kép để kết quả được tốt hơn.

Trong trường hợp không chắc về từ nằm giữa các câu, hãy làm tương tự như trên và thêm dấu * vào chỗ trống mà bạn muốn tìm từ thích hợp. Dấu * sẽ được Google hiểu là “có một từ nào đó nằm ở vị trí ấy nhưng tôi không biết nó là từ gì“.

Google sẽ đưa ra nhiều kêt quả để bạn có thể tham khảo và học cách sử dụng từ trong mỗi ngữ cảnh.

Ví dụ, tìm kiếm câu : “paste it * google”, bạn sẽ nhận được kết quả là  “paste it into google”.

Lưu ý: Tiến hành tìm kiếm từ trang web http://google.co.uk thay vì tìm kiếm từ http://google.com.vn để có được kết quả tốt nhất.

Kiểm tra chính tả của toàn bộ đoạn văn:

Nếu TinySpell chỉ có tác dụng kiểm tra tác dụng lỗi chính tả của từng từ khi bạn đang gõ nội dung, thì Spellchecker lại là công cụ cho phép kiểm tra chính tả và ngữ pháp của cả 1 đoạn văn bản.

Truy cập vào trang chủ của Speelchecker tại http://www.spellchecker.net/spellcheck/, dán nội dung đoạn văn cần kiểm tra và nhấn Spell Check. SpellChecker sẽ chỉ rõ các lỗi chính tả gặp phải trong đoạn văn và gợi ý chính xác từng từ để khắc phục chúng.

Thậm chí, SpellChecker còn chỉ ra lỗi khi không viết hoa ở đầu câu, và cảnh báo bạn nếu nội dung quá dài dòng.

Trên đây là những công cụ và kinh nghiệm giúp bạn tránh được các lỗi thường mắc phải khi sử dụng tiếng Anh. Hy vọng với những công cụ này, kỹ năng tiếng Anh của bạn sẽ được cải thiện hơn.

بازگشت ویتنی هیوستون

یکی از اتفاقات پرسرو صدای چند ماه اخیر، بازگشت ویتنی هیوستون، خواننده‌ی پرطرفدار دهه های 80 و 90  به بازار موسیقی بود. بعد از شش سال از آخرین آلبوم، Whitney که درگیر مسائل طلاق از همسرش و گرفتن سرپرستی دو فرزندشان بود، آلبوم  I look to you رو روانه بازار کرد. آلبوم به سرعت به صدر جدول 200 آلبوم برتر چارت رسید تا بعد از Bodyguard دومین آلبوم ویتنی باشه که در به بالای جدول رسیده.اولین مصاحبه رسمی Whitney Houston درباره این آلبوم، 14 سپتامبر (فردا) در شوی اپرا وینفری خواهد بود.

                

I look to you تلقیقی از سبک های R&B، Ballade و Soft Music را در خود داره که به نوعی ترکیبی از آلبوم های گذشته ی Houston هم محسوب میشه. تفاوت این اثر با سایر البوم های ویتنی هیوستون در اینه که سعی کرده بیشتر به جریان موسیقی روز آمریکا نزدیک بشه و شاید همین هم یکی از عوامل موفقیتش بوده. اما به نظر شخص من، از بار هنری ای که میتونست داشته باشه دورش کرده. صدای ویتنی هیوستون هم اصلاً مثل سابق نیست و تاثیرات افزایش سن روی صدای او هم به خوبی مشخصه. در یکی از نقدهای اغراق آمیزی که به این البوم و صدای خواننده ش شده، مجله Vibe نوشته، روزی بود که قدرت صدای ویتنی میتونست سقف یک استادیوم رو پایین بیاره ولی در این البوم، ویتنی با صداش حتی نمیتونه یک ترک روی سقف سالن ورزشی یک مدرسه بندازه! البته بعضی ها هم تغییرصدای هیوستون رو یک نقطه مثبت در این آلبوم میدونند و اونرو عاملی که جریان احساسات رو شدت بخشیده تلقی میکنند.

بهرحال اگر طرفدار آهنگ های کلاسیک  Whitney Houston بوده باشید، به احتمال زیاد، حداقل یکی دو قطعه از این آلبوم شما رو راضی کنه. یکی از قطعات جذاب این آلبوم، آهنگ Song for you ست که بازسازی ایه از اثری به همین نام که در سال 1970 توسط Leon Russel ساخته و خونده شد و بعد از او، خواننده های زیادی هم بازخوانی ش کردند. این اهنگ رو برای دانلود میتونید از این لینک دریافت کنید.
